I have 7 of these Mar-Crest, Daisy and Dot patterned plates. One has an obvious chip. I would like to replace it and find one more to complete the set. I really love the pattern.

This is a Daisy and Dot patterned divided bowl. It is perfect. I really love it. The brown of Mar-Crest matches all the drip edge pottery. It is quite striking together.

These 2 pieces are only marked with a u.s.a. I don't know where they came from or who made them. I'm sure it is just a matter of searching a little more. Both pieces are large and have the drip edge(foam) of the McCoy brownware. I love them! My sister found the candy dish at a yard sale and got it for me.

The Real McCoy

This is a McCoy mug with the drip edge design. Some call it foam. I'd like to put together a six cup set.
This little beauty belonged to my grandma. It is a McCoy plain white milk pitcher. When I was a child it was on the table doing what it was created to do. So I know it was used for a long time. It is still perfect.

This is really the piece that got me started down the 'brownware' road. It is a West Bend 2-quart Bean Pot. My Grandma gave it to me. I served (put hair on your chest) chili out of it when I first married. It isn't big enough to serve more than 4 if you serve a soup in it. If you used it as a bean pot, it would serve quite a few.
It weighs a couple of pounds, at least. The thing with pottery is that things stay hot longer. Or in the case of a pitcher, cold.
It's not worth much, maybe $15.00. I've got to say though, on a autumn decorated table it's perfect! You know, chili time! Lovely with oranges and golds.
I don't use it anymore. Though I should. I love it. My grandmother had used it for many years before she gave it to me. A very comforting thought.

Land of Insomnia I

I am in insomniac mode again. Last night I was scribbling away trying to get the quilt out of my head. Figured out the design problems. Like I have time to do a quilt. This is going to start me off on my road to minis. Maybe. That's the plan anyway. I don't have time for a big one. At least I will have something to do in waiting rooms. Do something productive with all that wasted time.
